I’m a character artist from Rhode Island, USA, producing costumes, masks, and “fursuits” which fuse techniques of both the taxidermist and costume designer. My design background includes being a product designer for The LEGO Group, a subject I wrote a book on during my subsequent college days. However, I consider myself an outsider artist.
My design ethos balances my work on a tightrope over the uncanny valley. I don’t create entirely cute characters, nor do I create realistic ones. Traditional mascot aesthetics also go out the window - there are many other artists who can dispatch that challenge better than I could. I believe the definitive representation of anthropomorphic characters is in two-dimensional media. So I aim to create characters, creatures, and monsters that are, above all else, effective in the third-dimension.
